Just want to bring this to the top for another little while.  Can you give a few more details/clues CC, or another picture, so we can start the 'treasure hunt"

I was thinking it was a snap dragon variety, but have had no luck pursuing that.

My first thought was a ladies slipper orchid but I'm sure it's not, though those folded petals look familiar. Come on you horticulturalists!

It does look like a Slipper Orchid but the problem is the Slipper Orchid's leaves are long with stripes top to bottom where the leaves in this picture have the normal leaf shape.  I am sure it is or the orchid family though

Isn't there a website where you can identify plants? I thought that was how I got to fiind out what my mystery plant was?

Yeah C, it's an RHS site..You have to send 'em a pic, but it might be quicker to take a blossom and leaf to a local plantsman's place as it's growing locally. Pretty little thing though. ( I mean the flower..) ;)

One day, a plant I could not recognise was growing in the garden. It was very lovely to look at, but I
never seen anything like that, not even in gardening books. So, I was very excited because I thought
I had now, a special plant that everybody will want, at a price..... ::) I telephoned Kew gardens, and
was asked to describe the said plant. "Goodness" was the espression at the end of the line, " that is
a terribly poisonus plant from abroad, and it will spread like fire !......Put sensible gloves on, pull it
up, totally, and burn it straight away ! !......Well ! I think that birds on their emigrating route must drop some peculiar seeds at times..... :D ::)    gm x

GrannyMoss what a shock that must have been . I must admit I've had lots of little what I thought were weeds growing but I think because I feed so many dickies the seeds take root . I now buy a seed that doesn't have the growing bit in it so no more seedlings appearing BUT GrannyMoss I worry incase the part that's removed is maybe a really good seed for my dickies who I absolutely love . I've been on bird watch for the BBC for a few years now and I love watching them .
Did you ever find out the name of that plant they told you destroy ? Quite amazing wasn't it xxxxx
