First time I have seen this thread. I actually no longer do favourites! Why? Because in another forum some years ago I mentioned that a particular stretch of road was one of my favourites for driving - within six months is was traffic calmed and had lost all appeal. My favourite locations tend to be far from the maddening crowd and so I worry if I mention them they might become unacceptably busy!

Bea, traffic calming. can be obstructions in the road, bollards etc, speed humps, or road narrowing with right of way in one direction, I assume smart motorways have cameras, variable speed limits, and overhead gantries for lane closures.

Very pretty place! Wouldn't want to get sucked into that in full flow!
This post is my opinion, which you may not like, but I'm entitled to it.

Well unless I dropped in, I would be dead before I got there because I can't swim. ;D

So many favourite places don't know where to start.  Love the coast and sea having lived on a boat many moons ago, can still recall lying in bed hearing the waves and the clanking of the rigging.  Dorset, Cornwall, Devon take a lot beating down South but then Northumberland and Lincolnshire are lost quiet places to enjoy then Europe so many gorgeous places, absolutely love South France and Spain but so many wonderful countries in Europe, could go on and on possibly my fav ever place is St Lucia in the Carribean.  Maybe for me I see so many beautiful places everywhere if you look you find beauty.

The lovely locations our generation visited and photographed and printed will last longer than the super camera and projections maybe?

You're welcome Coastal.

This is the seafront where I live, I love being there on a quiet still calm day, I find it has a calming effect looking out to sea.

Nothing wrong with your picture Bee, as you can tell by my nickname I am a bit of a fan of the sea, not too keen on being on it (unless it's a big ship) because I can't swim, but nothing beats being by the sea whatever the weather, sadly my nearest coast is a 90 mile round trip, but I still do the occasional trip just for the drive, and so I can have fish & chips looking out to sea,

And my nearest resort is Aberystwyth
