As Digitalis said, these events are localised and therefore bear heavily on relatively few urban hospitals, where they represent a far higher proportion.

And are we saying that hospitals will turn away victims of knife crime? Good luck with that, especially if someone dies from lack of medical intervention.

Also, what would be the status of the 800,000 or so Scots living in other parts of the UK and who have no say in what will happen to their country? That's something like 14.5% of Scotland's total population. To put that into further perspective, the total SNP vote in the 2019 general election was 1,292,380 - so the disenfranchised Scots represent around 2/3 of the number voting for the SNP

Just a casual thought, most unlikely to happen, but if the UK did break up into it's constituent parts and therefore Britain ceased to exist (we could not call England - Great Britain anymore could we?)  What will be the status of those who currently reside here due to their acquired citizenship of Britain?  Only birth to a person with a birth right to reside in England (or any of the other constituent nations) will have the right to use the nation-specific right to residence and will therefore technically become illegal and possibly have their citizenship annulled.

I wonder how many 'British' citizens living in Scotland and potentially voting for independence have thought of this?  I could go on about all the other anomalies this throws up, but will simply say that I am English and I don't want my government (currently non-existent) to go handing out feu-Englishness to all and sundry and I would guess many native Scots feel pretty much the same.
