State Pension
« on: Apr 04, 2021, 11:16:13 PM »
I have some questions about the state pension id like to ask

1. Do you think it will still exist in 2050?
2. If it does not, what does that mean for those who have paid into it for several years?
3. Will the predicted age to draw it at 68 remain the same?

Thank you for thoughts.

To be honest, I doubt anyone can have any idea what it will be like in 30 years. Unless I make it to 113, scarcely likely, I won’t be around to see, but as by then we will still be paying for the financial effects of lockdown, I doubt the government of the day will be in a position to be generous

We can't know. I do know my children and their spouses, all a bit older than 1813 are not relying on the state pension.  As long as they are all in work, they're making pension contributions.

I think its wise to have a safety net. I just wonder if it did go, how would it be for those who had paid into it for all those years for it to just auddenly disappear?

I think that the reaction of the government of the day, suitably wrapped up in gobbledygook, would be ‘tough’

Would not surprise me but our reaction would be intriguing.

The population at the time would do what us Brits always do. Moan. Only moan naturally. We aren't Frenchies I'll have you know. More's the bloody pity. If we were the boat migrant problem would have been solved some years back for starters. That double layer pension scam? No bloody chance. End to the free TV licence - who are you kidding?
So long and thanks for all the fish

My cousin thinks every pensioner deserves £35.000.00 per year. I ‎do not know where the money will come from.

Well, if you want to vote for the Pie-in-the-sky Labour party you may find out . . .

£35,000 a year is fine if you have paid for a private or occupational pension.
My cousin thinks members of the family who have a private or occupational pension should share it with the ones who have not. Nobody is willing to do that.
