2nd of May 1969

Maiden voyage of the liner QE2 as she left Southampton for New York, and as she left harbour I was on the Hythe ferry, which made way for her,  and watched her leave, with the fire floats saluting her with jets of water. Doesn't seem possible that it was 52 years ago and I was just 31 years old

The three queens, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria and Queen Mary II came to Liverpool in May 2015 and it was a fantastic sight to see them all close up.  I took lots of photos but they're on my old PC.

The moon landing. I remember that as well. When the landing took place it was the subject of a radio programme, and I was listening to the broadcast, looking at the moon, and thinking a man is actually walking there!

Gorgeous  vessels. Some friends flew to New York, came back on one of the earlier Queens, can’t remember which, back in the 50s, perhaps early 60s, and described it as out of this world for luxury

Not really Mike, just another gig in a small lounge. Three months pay is three months pay though and with a lovely bonus called Syd thrown in.  ;D
