Jumbo Restaurant
« on: Jun 16, 2022, 06:49:50 PM »
Sadly today I read of the demise of Jumbo in Aberdeen Harbour Hong Kong.
Covid has claimed one more victim I fear and Jumbo's future location and eventual use have yet to be decided.
I wonder if there are any old Kai Takkers like me who remember that great restaurant and night spot with the same fondness as I do ?

And today the tragic news that Jumbo has sunk whilst on tow to a new location in the South China Sea.

It has gone down in 1,000 metres of water, rendering salvage imposible......it will be missed

Never be another place like it Mike and I'm sure that other Kai Takkers lurking on here would agree with me.
Incidentally, a Sqdn of us broke the all time record for breaking the taxi cab (kai tak - jumbo) packing record back in '72 along with the longest "Dance of the Flaming ****holes in boogis street Singapore (Helens Bar)
Surely some ol' grunt must remember those frenetic times ?
