I'm sorry Mups.  That line is very good, but it's not true to the Limerick form which is 88558
syllables per line.
I hope you don't mind if I alter your line to fit. 

Joan was sat in Church with just a few
When suddenly in the next pew
The Curate did appear
Holding two cans of beer
And cake which he started to chew.

It's still not totally true to the limerick pattern, but much nearer.
I'll start a new one with hopefully just 8 syllables. -
