Your shading and shadowy bits are great.I think it's excellent.

I started attending an art class a few years ago. The last time i'd picked a paintbrush up i was probably about 15. The 'alternative art' program was financed by our local health service, sort of like art on prescription, and aimed mainly at people like me, who were sitting at home alone all day, and staring at the 4 walls. I'm no  good, but i enjoy it.

When I was a wean my Grandfather, Dr Richmond McIntosh, took me to an art gallery in London where the walls were covered in pictures.

Granddad stopped in front of a fire hydrant and observed it long enough for one of those blokes in uniforms and war medals to come across and ask what he was doing, to which
Granddad replied, "That's the type of art I like."

I prefer old Art. To me the artist had to work harder with basic materials... even blood.

Old Art tells more of a story and it keeps me visually occupied for much longer than modern art that l usually pass by.

Some so called modern art is too complicated for me to understand what I am viewing, where the skill and subjects of traditionally painted-as-seen and not imagined, really does it for me. The shadows and shading here is as though she was in front of me with just a window to her left to illuminate her for Van Eyck to capture her pose. Our bodies are more wonderous the more I look at them.
