2 people have said Rufus has come too fast. My view is we did not throw Andy out so we have done nothing wrong. Andy is still missed. As far as we are concerned he has not gone from the family. Some people are quick to replace where as some are slower. It is individual. Rufus has been told about Andy and he will hear about him many more times.

I do not think Rufus has come too fast, because Peter, just like you, is missing the company of a companion. I am sure you will all get along well together.

Rufus is doing his job. He has woken the house up to say a taxi has just gone up the Close.

Sorry to hear you lost Andy Brian. I also lost my precious Dageus at the end of April 😭 I won't be getting another dog though as I made up my mind after my fall that I couldn't manage another. Dageus went to obedience and agility the first 4 years of his life and was very well trained, I couldn't go back to the start again. Besides I still help out with the Clydesdales and that's not as easy as it used to be.
Good luck with your new wee doggie.

Rufus has settled in and we think he has decided to stay. Peter appeared to be interviewing him at the start in dog language.
Rufus's tail went down at some points probably when Peter was telling him about Andy.
Rufus was the sole dog with his previous owner. He now has to share his home but he appears happy with that.

Dogs like being part of a pack.
