I haven't got a private pension, I'm a 91-year-old
widow living alone in my own small flat with my cat
and I am content. My eldest son now retired, lives
only 8 miles away.  I count my blessings.

Brian...   I'm thinking that CHF is a more contented man than you will ever be..

Many thanks, er - I am a female of the species
:sarcastic: but I see your point, plus there are no pockets in
shrouds. Perhaps Brian was extremely short of money
and the things money can buy when younger. So it is
high in his priorities.
It takes all sorts.........

I don't understand how having  2 daughters 2 dogs and 2 sil improves your life as a pensioner.

Does that mean that pensioners with 3 daughters, 3 dogs and 3 SiL's have an even better life as a pensioner than you?

What about pensioners with 2 daughters, 2 sons, innumerable dogs, 2 Sils and 2 DiLs and 10 grand children? are they living the life of Riley?

I love my life and l am very happy but l hate the word.... pensioner.
I don’t want to be referred to as one of them even though l do receive a pension!

Why do we always have to be labelled?

Unfortunately Dad was befriended by a lady and he made it clear I owned half the house. It was tenants in common. His half was willed to me. When Dad was out the lady said she was getting married to Dad and I would have to leave and take the dogs with me. Dad said that will not happen and they split.

When Dad died she said Dad had left the house to her and a few people said they witnessed Dad saying that. I asked to see the will and she could not produce one so the house was legally mine.

Since then a few people have said the house should have gone to the lady. I have ignored them and continued to live in the house.

I am 'Pensioner Class' and the term doesn't bother me in the slightest. Now age related health issues are a different subject, but being termed as a pensioner doesn't bother me.

I was paid a pension by my ex employers in my 50s as I was made redundant. As long as I got the money I did not bother about being classed as a pensioner.

I've been a Service pensioner since my 40s.  Proud to have served!
