The Jelly family of Blaina
« on: Jan 08, 2013, 05:22:08 PM »
The year before I retired I decided that I would start to try and trace my father's family as I didn't know any of them.  He died when I was six and my mother always told me that his side of the family didn't want anything to do with us as they thought that he had married beneath him.
When she died in 1987 I found that this was a complete fabrication.  Anyway, I managed to track down two cousins, one which I met just before I left Birmiingham.  She told me that I was the living image of my father.
I met up with the other cousin and we visited Blaina, Gwent, which is where our fathers came from.
None of the family knew that I existed and I have now traced all of them, as far as I know.
I now have a blog, which has a different page for every couple in the family, but no living relatives are mentioned (apart from myself).
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.
